Community Outreach

The UEC will create new links and strengthen old ties with our campus-adjacent communities through education, outreach, and community events.

Education

The UEC will offer non-credit courses and certificates in urban ecology (e.g., urban agriculture, planting medicinal gardens, planting pollinator gardens, urban bee-keeping, compost workshops, the ecology of cities, and others).

Community Events

The UEC will host speakers, symposia, conferences, film screenings, and book clubs on urban ecology, food security, and biodiversity. We will create campus gardens and trails so that people can experience the historical ecology of Los Angeles and learn how to maintain and enhance our shared ecological heritage.

Outreach

The UEC will publish a newsletter chronicling events and activities each semester for distribution on our campus and to members of surrounding communities.
